Saaros, Raanta, Dell, Khudobin, Bernier all 6’ or under. Can still find success in the NHL as a 6 foot goalie. I’m looking forward to watching Wolf. Good picks all around I think by the Flames. Would of liked them to get into that 2nd round though.

Personally, I think all these huge goalies seem to play the same way. They are big & block a lot of net but I watch Smith & Gilles & these guys literally play on their knees.
It will be refreshing to see a Fuhr type acrobatic goalie that plays on his feet most of the time & is quick to cover the angles. I am totally fine with this pick. The kid is a a good 3-4 years away.

I am still scratching my head about what Vancouver gave up to get Miller. I dont mind Miller, had an underwhelming season last year, I know, had in him in a hockey pool. But Tampa had cap issues & fcking Benning bailed them out. To risk a potential lottery pick at this stage of their rebuild is insanity. They are heading in the right direction but man, it's not hard to take a few steps back.

I honestly dont know how we will move Neal, aint gonna happen. These older UFA's (29 & over) are going to get the dregs of the of the players revenue pool.

I am thinking players like Brodie, Frolik, Stone can be moved for players that fill needs but carry cap hits & are not fits on other teams. A Stone for Reimer or Frolik for Anderson on Ottawa type of deals. Cap may cause many teams to have to settle on plan B's.

Lets see what they do with Myers! That’s a bad contract waiting to happen. Sounds like Vancouver is meeting with him today.

LOL cross your fingers. I think we need to wait out this free agency period & then teams will open up to filling needs & there will be markets for players like Brodie & Frolik, or switching contracts but get players that fill positional needs like a Stone for Reimer or Neal & Shyllington for an Anderson on Ottawa. Price of salary dumps has just gone up big time. Vegas thinks they can move Clarkson for a 2nd round pick, think again.

Wolf had fantastic stats in the WHL last season so there's certainly reasons to be optimistic. Goalies are a crapshoot at the best of times so we'll have to wait and see what he becomes.

We'll have to wait a few years to see how the Flames did in the draft, but I trust Tre and the scouting staff enough to be cautiously optimistic.

If 1 year of Marleau cost a 1st round pick to unload than Neal is going to cost a poop load to dump on someone.

The Canucks/Flames/Oilers are stuck with Neal/Lucic/Eriksson

We still have a glimmer of hope that Neal bounces back...somewhat at least. Fingers crossed.

Indeed their contracts are almost as bad as Voracek 5 x 8.25mm, JVR's 4 x 7mm & Hayes at 5 x 7.14mm!

Not really. Treliving in regards to Neal is nowhere close the position that Dubas was in concerning Marleau. Offloading Neal would be a bonus to upgrade the roster elsewhere, but nowhere near a necessity dollar-wise. For Dubas it was basically surrender a 1rst, or Marner goes. Dubas had a gun to his head, whether Treliving is not threatened at all, he still has loads of leverage (Brodie, Frolik, Hamonic, etc.).

Unloading Neal will probably cost a 1rst, but not a "poop load" like you're saying.

Marleau is 35+ so a buyout has no effect on the cap. Neal can be bought out ….over 8 years which is a pain but the buyout is less than 2 million per. Its not good with any of these contracts but bonuses and age make some worse than others.

Flames aren't as bad though. Both Eriksson and Lucic have to be protected in the expansion draft.

Lucic does, not Loui. Lucic has a NMC, LE only has a NTC

Wolfs a no brainer pick. 7th round big whoop! Flames haven't drafted a goalie since Parsons, Schneider and Rittich were free agents! It was time.
I've watched him play, was jealous Everett lost Hart and Wolf steps in and doesn't miss a beat.

There's no way the Canucks can bring Erickson back after what he said. Not a healthy move.
Bennings going to have to give up something to get him out of town. Should have saved that 1st he wasted yesterday

He doesn't have a NMC so they can make him ride the buses in the AHL, maybe he'll get tired of it after a year and go back home to Sweden. Another edge for the Canucks compared too Neal/Lucic, LE has a home country he can always run back to and still get paid decent money in.

Especially since he just got his big bonus and his actual salary remaining now is lower than his cap hit.

Still cannot believe that both Tampa and the leaf´s got let off the hook so easily.
